Theater & Film

Growing up going to a Waldorf school made it easy for me to fall in love with theater. With every year comes a class play for the young ones to test out their newfound vocabulary and emotions. Even though it made me nervous, I thoroughly enjoyed sharing our class's stories with our parents and special friends. I continued my passion into high school, directing and starring in many plays and extremely silly skits.

Parallel to this theater experience was my homespun interest in movies. I started out making movies my stop-motion animating my legos at home. I enjoyed setting up the camera and taking hundreds of pictures in order to make my minifigs come to life. I liked stop motion because you could take your time, and change the story mid-shoot if you wanted.

Learning how to put all those pictures together led me to iMovie. I learned how to use editing software starting at the age of 11. Adding baking tracks and sound effects was so fun. I use the skills I learned then all the time now. I still get excited by playing around with sound and video files, only now in PremierePro and DaVinci Resolve.

In college I put those interests together by majoring in theatre and minoring in digital filmmaking. I did, and still feel, that the best film actors and directors come from the theater. By choosing to study theater, I fulfilled my childhood interests but also by desire to learn the thousands of years of history of theater that came before the movie stars we see today. My home is that this foundation makes me a good filmmaker for the future.

These days I am working on screenwriting and recording audio. I am excited to try out new projects and lend a hand to anyone who would like to do the same!
